Honduras offers many locations for kayaking, both in sea kayaking, or white water kayaking. For sea kayakers, there are outstanding options in the islands, with some outfitters providing sea kayak expeditions that circumnavigate the island of Guanaja in a week, as well as simple day kayak excursions.

Some of the easier choices include kayaking within the lagoons and mangrove forests at Punta Izopo National Park in Tela, or the Cacao Lagoon near La Ceiba, which provides the opportunity to see ample bird life, and with a bit of good luck, monkeys, crocodiles and other wildlife that lives in this habitat.

For those interested in the more adventuresome white water option, the Cangrejal River offers fantastic opportunities, with options that go from class 2 and 3 white water to a more advanced class 4 and 5, all on the Cangrejal River. Omega Tours, based in La Ceiba, offers tours for those who are advanced kayakers, and even have a multi-day expeditions in the nearby Sico River for the more adventuresome kayakers.
