The Best of La Ceiba Bars

La Ceiba bars spring up here and there throughout the city. Some open for a few weeks, and others become lasting traditions. The most well-known area of La Ceiba for hole-in-the-wall bars would be the “Zona Viva”. Ritzy or relaxed, we consider the following to be “The Best of La Ceiba Bars”.

La Ceiba Bars

Expatriates has an international liquor selection

The quintessential bar in La Ceiba, Expatriates has been open for almost two decades, and is an icon when it comes to bars in the city. A pleasant rooftop terrace with a large thatched roof on the top provides both security and privacy. “Expats”, as referred to by the bar regulars, is open 7 days a week, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., later on weekends. They have a fully stocked international bar, prepare great tropical cocktails, and serve a full meal for both lunch and dinner. English, French, and of course, Spanish are spoken on premises.

El Jaguar

A unique, beach front bar located in the Zona Viva, very close to the old Municipal Dock.  El Jaguar offers a very relaxed atmosphere, including hammocks! Unlike most bars, they serve no bottled soft-drinks. There are a variety of homemade concoctions, normally based on tequila or rum.
