Some of the best white water rafting in Central America can be done in Honduras.

Rafting the Cangrejal River

The north coast city of La Ceiba has become the white water capital in Honduras because of the magnificent Cangrejal River.

There are several outfitters that provide white water rafting tours from La Ceiba. A one day tour to the Cangrejal river can easily be arranged from Utila or from Roatan. The most reputable rafting outfitter is Omega Tours, but La Moskitia Ecoaventuras also provides good secure service. Omega offers rafting over two different sections of the river. One, which is the regular commercial stretch, begins in the vicinity of the community of El Naranjo. The other is more technical rafting, between the communities of El Pital and Las Mangas.
