About Author John Dupuis

It’s always hard to write about yourself…  So let me be brief. The name is John Dupuis.  I was born and raised in Mexico City. But Honduras is my home since 1993.  I lived in Copan Ruinas back when I first got to Honduras, and met my lovely wife, Soledad. We have three sons. I have four sons prior to this relationship, so that makes for a total of 7 boys, no girls…

My first endeavor in Honduras was to create a small booklet. I  called it “Copan Tips”. It became very popular with the tourism community and quickly quickly evolved into Honduras tips. I successfully managed it for over 15 years, and then sold to Grupo OPSA in 2010. OPSA also publishes the two leading newspapers in Honduras: La Prensa and El Heraldo. This endeavor allowed me to travel regularly throughout the entire territory of Honduras. It was fun discovering the different destinations. I also established a relationship with the different stakeholders in the travel business throughout Honduras.

I settled in the Cangrejal River Valley, where I run a small bed and breakfast together with my wife, Soledad. Our bed and breakfast is slowly becoming a successful business despite difficult times. Our bed & breakfast, La Villa de Soledad B&B is located in the lovely Cangrejal River Valley.

In an effort to share with other travelers and explorers the uniqueness and friendliness of Honduras as a travel destination, I have set out in a new project. Honduras Travel to create an online resource that is up to date and useful to the traveler. I intend to make in become “the” Travel Blog for Honduras. After living so many years in Honduras, I am fully aware that Honduras is not the dangerous murder capital of the World that the international press likes to portray it as. Feel free to write to me at john.dupuis@hondurastravel.com with suggestions and / or corrections to keep this resource up to date. Enjoy your travels throughout Honduras!
