Nigel Marven Visits Honduras!
The famous nature reality star, Nigel Marven visits Honduras! The Honduras Institute of Tourism sponsored his trip. Beaks and Peaks, a local tour operator that specializes in birding and nature tours is in charge of his tour. His itinerary includes many different areas in the country. His first stop has been in Atlantida, along the north coast of Honduras. I had the good luck of meeting him and spending a good time chatting about the country and its history.
Nigel Marven at Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge

His tour of Honduras includes a visit to the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. There he enjoyed the train ride into the refuge. There, he saw many different species of birds, reptiles and even mammals! The elusive manatee did not cooperate by letting itself be seen. But Nigel even jumped into the water to look for one![themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]
Nigel Marven Rafting the Cangrejal River!

Believe it or not, Nigel had never enjoyed white water rafting! He had a chance to do so in the lovely Cangrejal River. I must say, he had a blast. During his time at the river, he even spotted a couple of snakes and made friends with them! The River flows between two national parks: Pico Bonito and Nombre de Dios. The is ideal to spot wildlife and offers great birding![themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]
Nigel Marvin Visits La Villa de Soledad B&B in Pico Bonito

I had the chance to be his personal host during his two night stay at La Villa de Soledad B&B in the Cangrejal River Valley. He enjoyed two great meals with us. During the second meal, our neighboring hoteliers, Richard Adamson from Villas Pico Bonito and Pepe Herrero from Hotel Rio joined us. We were quite a motley crew! A Brit, a Mexican and a Honduran being hosts to a distinguished public figure like Nigel![themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]
Nigel Marven Visits Cayos Cochinos

Nigel continued his trip to Cayos Cochinos in search of a Pink Boa, which is endemic to this small archipelago. As a pure coincidence, I visited Cayos Cochinos on the same day and had the pleasure to chat with him again. He was having a grand old time with a pink boa when I last saw him! He met with President Hernandez himself who was having a cabinet meeting in Cayos Cochinos. If things go as planned, they will meet again in a week at the famous “Ciudad Blanca” in the Moskito Coast of Honduras. This is one of the most remote and inaccessible areas in Central America. God only knows what Nigel will find there!
Nigel will also visit Copan Ruinas and the Colonial City of Gracias in Western Honduras. In total, he will be spending three weeks in Honduras. After only 5 days in the country, he was constantly saying “Honduras is Great”, which is true! He genuinely seemed interested in coming back to Honduras to enjoy a more relaxed vacation. We are looking forward to having Nigel Marven visit Honduras again!
