Tela, located on the west end of Atlantida is a sleepy town with the best beaches in Central America. Yet, Tela offers much more that beaches. The best championship golf course in Honduras is in Tela. You can also find the largest tropical botanical garden in the Americas: Lancetilla Botanical Gardens. Two different Tela National Parks offer easy access. La Ceiba is the largest city in Atlantida Honduras. A magnificent set of mountains that tower to over 8000 feet above sea level are the backstage to La Ceiba! These mountains, known as the Nombre de Dios Mountains, are visible from the Bay Islands on a clear day. These mountains are home to Pico Bonito and Nombre de Dios National Parks. La Ceiba is the adventure sports capital in Honduras. You will find world class white water rafting in the Cangrejal River. Zip line through the tropical rain forests or try rappelling down pristine waterfall.  There are also a variety of trails to enjoy hiking in the tropical rain forest.[themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]

At the end of the day, soothe your muscles in the beautiful natural hot springs at Sambo Creek. La Ceiba is also the gateway to the Bay Islands.  Regular ferry service to the islands 0f Utila and Roatan departs from this city.

The Cangrejal River Valley

Last but not least, is the Cangrejal River Valley. This unique piece of paradise is between Pico Bonito National Park and Nombre de Dios National Park. The valley gets its name from the lovely Cangrejal River. Here you can enjoy nature and challenge the white water rapids of the Cangrejal River. Another option is to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.
