Yes, there are two different faces to Roatan! This week I had a chance to visit the island. I spent most of the day in Roatan’s East End. I enjoyed the pristine beaches, the laid-back resorts and the tropical nature. As the day was ending, and just a bit before sunset, I made it to the eclectic West End Village. Here, I saw the other different face that Roatan has to offer!

The Marina Copan Convention Center opened its doors and hosted its first event earlier this month. This is a fantastic venue that opens many different possibilities for Copan. There is no doubt that this convention center, together with the new highway, is the beginning of a new and very bright future for Copan Ruinas!
IHCAFE, the Honduran Institute of Coffee celebrated the Honduras National Barista Contest in Tegucigalpa this past weekend. The event is a celebration to the excellent quality of coffee that Honduras produces. This is the eighth consecutive year that this celebration takes place in Honduras.

The sad truth to this question is that many people do not even know that Honduras exists. But, there are several outstanding products that make Honduras famous. So what is Honduras famous for? Coffee, Bananas, Mayan Archaeological sites, Barrier reefs and Caribbean Islands, to name a few!
Early last year, Danny Glover, one of Hollywood’s most outstanding African American actors was in La Ceiba. He came to the inaugural event for the new City Mayor, Jerry Sabio. Other regular visitors to Honduras include Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones.
The upcoming March 2nd and 3rd will see the first Honduras Caribbean Birding Festival! The event is the second of its kind in the area of La Ceiba. Birdwatching activities will include birding in the area close to the Lodge at Pico Bonito. This is one of several other bird festivals and counts scheduled in Honduras for 2019.
Las Vibras, the new hostel in La Ceiba, is full of good vibes. It also has the right partnerships to help promote its success. A close relationship with one of the leading tourist shuttle van providers in the area is a natural feeder of tourists into the hostel.
Today, I had the opportunity to chat with a couple of Italian tourists that are on a motorcycle tour through Honduras. They were driving two lovely Kawasaki 650 dirt bikes and were having a blast.
