Ibagari, the New Boutique Hotel in West Bay.

I guess I am a born explorer. Perhaps not your Indiana Jones adventurer going way off the beaten path to follow a quest. But I am one to take a turn on the road and see where it leads. Today while in Roatan, I did just that, and went down a steep road following a sign that said “Ibagari”. It just caught my eye and I had to follow it. I had been down that road before. It leads to the beautiful Xbalanque Boutique Hotel on the beach.

As I got to the end of the road, at Xbalanque I was a bit disappointed. I did not come across Ibagari. But I did see a small gravel road leading towards the right, parallel to the beach, so I decided to follow it. Success! The result of my wandering down the road was that I found Ibagari, the new boutique hotel in West Bay!  Ibagari is in a lovely building right on the beach. So I parked my car and walked into one of the most magnificent architectural spaces in Roatan.[themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]

Ibagari is a spectacular wooded building that is completely open. It is hard to know if you are inside or outside. The architect and builders left many trees right where they were, and built around them. Many are indoor the spacious, three story lobby. Between the main building and the beach you will find a spacious deck with a water mirror, a Jacuzzi and a pool. The area is blends into the outdoors, and there are lounges smartly set throughout.[themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]

An inviting dining area, with a bar stocked with top brands invites you to sit down, relax and take in the beauty of the spot.

The rooms at Ibagari are spacious and comfortable

As I walked in I met a well dressed young lady who turned out to be the manager. Thelma exuded hospitality, and had one of the prettiest smiles I have ever seen. She kindly showed me one of the rooms on premises. They only have a total of 8 rooms, and each is different and unique. The room I saw had a king size bed with an ocean view. Décor included outstanding art and a large flat screen TV. A spacious bathroom is both, comfortable and inviting.[themify_hr border_width=”1″ width=”1″ color=”light-gray”]

Ibagari is a Garifuna word that means life. This small boutique hotel is all about celebrating life! If you have a need to celebrate life, I can think of few places that are better than Ibagari. Enjoy the tranquil Caribbean Sea and white sand beach just outside your room. Allow yourself to be pampered at the restaurant and sip your favorite spirited drinks. The only thing missing is yourself and your loved one!
