Thinking of visiting Honduras but trying to figure out which are the top places to stay in Honduras in 2017? Although Honduras is a small country, there are many places to visit. Honduras, almost by definition offers a unique and different travel experience. Of course, choosing the right places for you stay in Honduras will have a direct impact on you final vacation experience. I have had with the opportunity of traveling throughout Honduras for over two decades. Believe me, I have taken advantage of it. Following is my suggestion of top places to stay in Honduras in 2017.

This pleasant and homey bed and breakfast is just 5 miles outside of La Ceiba, towards the mountains. Despite the short distance, you will feel in a remote, jungle location. The service provided by the innkeepers has made them worthy or outstanding reviews. Both Booking.com and Tripadvisor have given them various awards over the years. The villa has only 4 rooms, each with a private bath, hot water and access to wifi. It’s spectacular layout seamlessly blends the indoors with the outdoors.

The town of Zambrano is 20 miles (30 km) north of Tegucigalpa, on the highway towards San Pedro Sula. Just a few blocks off the road, into the town you will find this lovely small hotel. Owned by Jorge Valle Aguiluz and his wife, the hotel exudes charm. Enjoy the collection of religious artifacts throughout the preoperty. Jorge has purchased them during his trips around Central America decorates this lovely Inn. You will enjoy the rural atmosphere of this property, as well as the conversation with Jorge. Despite its closeness to Tegucigalpa, Caserio Valuz feels like it is in a remote rural location. Enjoy the community, take a hike to the magnificent Catarata Escondida or enjoy some horseback riding. Best of all, relax and feel at home in rural Honduras.

If you are spending the night in Tegucigalpa, I have good news for you. Casa Xochicalco is a lovely bed and breakfast located on the outskirts of town in El Hatillo. This charming home is almost 70 years old and is now a bed and breakfast. Esperanza, the owner is a fantastic host. She will look after your needs and provide great tips about Tegus and surroundings. The lovely gardens are home to many birds, and the climate is nice and cool. Casa Xochicalco is a true oasis in Tegucigalpa. If you are looking for a unique place to stay in Tegus, this is the best alternative.
