Hotels in Trujillo are rather spread apart. Because of this, and to help you find the perfect hotel for you. I am grouping them in four distinct groups. Hotels near the Airport, Downtown Trujillo Hotels, and the Hotels in the neighborhood of Santa Fe Garifuna Village, West of Trujillo. The last group if for hotels you will find before you arrive to the Trujillo turnoff on the CA13 highway.
Trujillo Airport Hotels
By far the largest hotel in Trujillo! The Christopher Columbus is next the airstrip in Trujillo, a couple of kilometers outside of town. It sits on a lovely beach and has one of the best private docks in the bay. The property has a tennis court as well as two different pools. A restaurant and a beach bar make it a perfect place to stay and relax without dealing with visiting the city. Rooms all have air conditioning, as well as cable tv and most of them have a great ocean view.
La Quinta Bay Hotel
A sister property of the Hotel La Quinta in La Ceiba. This hotel is next to the landing strip, and although it is not on the beach, you are only a couple hundred yards from the beach. This means that you are within walking distance of several different restaurants and bars. Hotel La Quinta Bay is a great alternative if you want a reasonably priced hotel near the beach. Rooms are spacious and clean and service is reliably good.
Capiro Bay Hotel
The Capiro Bay Hotel in Trujillo is right on the beach, adjacent to the Christopher Columbus resort. This nice property caters to religious mission groups, and therefore offers a quiet, serene atmosphere that is ideal to enjoy the lovely beach. The property offers comfortable rooms with air conditioning, private baths and a restaurant. Service is great and prices are fair.
Located on the Beach across the river from the new Cruise Ship Terminal. Casa Alemania is popular with locals and tourists alike. They have expanded and now have many more rooms. A new restaurant bar and pool club offers great entertainment options as the sun sets in the evening. English, Spanish and German are spoken on premises. A great alternative if you are looking for a beach front property. It is halfways between the airport and downtown. This means that you get the best of both worlds: the nice beaches next to the airport and easy access to the restaurants and bars in town. Owners Gunter and Paola are always on premises and are great hosts.

This is probably the best option if you are looking for a downtown hotel in Trujillo. The hotel belongs to one of the oldest families in Trujillo, the O Glynn, originally from Ireland.
Hotel Mar de Plata
A basic hotel located on a hilltop in the City of Trujillo. Very basic, and more of an option if you are a backpacker looking for a place to spend the night and want a clean room. The hotel offers private rooms with a/c and a private bath. No restaurant or bar on premises, but it is only a couple of blocks away from Central Park, so it is easy to find a place for a meal. The downside to this property is that it is right next to one of the popular discotheques in town. This can mean long noisy nights, especially on weekends.
You can’t miss the Hotel Colonial as you drive into town. It is across the street from the Santa Barbara Fortress and across the other street from the Trujillo Cathedral. Hotel Colonial offers affordable rooms, a nice balcony to look out to the park and the fortress and one of the best restaurants in town: El Bucanero. This hotel is an institution in town, and offers affordable rooms with air conditioning. The one drawback is that it is right on the main entrance to town, so you can get some street noise early in the morning.
Hotel Plaza Centro
Another downtown option at affordable prices. Property has a nice indoor patio and friendly service.
The Hotel Emperador is one of the more established downtown hotels. It is quite basic, and has traditionally catered to the Honduran budget travelers. You cannot miss the three storey yellow building a couple of blocks from town. They have some rooms without a/c and others with for an extra fee. Rooms are all under $25 US dollars! They have a cafeteria next to the hotel with typical local food where you can find a cheap bite.
If you are looking for a more Garifuna experience, you should try Coco Pando. This hotel is within the Garifuna Community of Cristales, and is within walking distance of downtown. Rooms are basic, but quite affordable. The Coco Pando restaurant and bar-disco are right next door, so you will have no trouble finding food and drink.
