WestJet Inaugural Flight to Honduras
The WestJet inaugural flight to Honduras was a milestone as the first scheduled non stop flight from Canada to Honduras. The flight originated in Toronto and landed in Roatan after an uneventful 4 plus hour flight. They flight operates once a week on Sunday. According to the WestJet web page, the flight will operate between December 15th, 2019 and April 19th, 2020. The flight will resume in December 2020. WestJet is a low-cost airline and is offering tickets between Toronto and Roatan for as little as $212 Canadian Dollars one way. (Approximately 162 US Dollars). This is a big difference from what most other airlines are offering,

It is important to mention that the Roatan Juan Manuel Galvez Airport has just received its certification as an international airport. This means that Honduras now has two airports certified as international. The next two airports in line to be certified are the Goloson Airport in La Ceiba and then the new Palmerola International Airport in Comayagua that is scheduled to take over the flights from Toncontin airport within the next 18 months.[themify_hr color=”light-gray” width=”1″ border_width=”1″]
There is already talk about an additional destination in Honduras for WestJet for next year. The logical destination would be Goloson International Airport in La Ceiba. Not only does it have a great runway, and good facilities. It is also the gateway to Atlantida, where many Canadiens are already traveling to several resorts and ownership properties for the Canadian snowbirds. Such is the Case at the Corinto Pearl Resort in El Porvenir.
The area around Trujillo and Balfate also have important investments from Canadian citizens. These include The Trujillo Beach Resort, and the Njoi residential complex in Trujillo Bay. We enthusiastically welcome efforts to bring more scheduled flights to Honduras. We hope that this WestJet Inaugural flight is the first of many more to Honduras!
